I am aware of how difficult it can be to take the first step in asking for help, but it is one of the bravest things that you can do for yourself.
I am passionate about helping others better understand themselves to bring about greater self-acceptance and change. I believe that change can lead you to a more fulfilling life and help you to live with greater authenticity. Whilst we are all a product of our past, this does not mean that we are destined to live a certain way - we can always challenge was is causing us pain and distress and make changes.
I pledge to offer you empathy, a non-judgmental approach, congruence, and warmth in our journey together. This will enable you to explore the sometimes painful feelings, past experiences and stuck patterns of behaviour that may be holding you back.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques that are most appropriate for you as the client and the needs and issues that you bring.
The key to successful outcomes in counselling is the quality of the relationship between the counsellor and the client. Given the right, person-centred conditions, the chance to tell your story to a supportive and non-judgemental listener can be emotionally healing and can help you to see a way through your challenges.
Where appropriate, I may also use a psychodynamic approach which involves looking at your early life experiences and relationships to better understand your current way of being.
